Renegades · Season 28: Lawless
Modes do not reward the same habits
One of the easiest mistakes in PvP analysis is assuming that a strong general loadout is automatically a strong playlist-specific loadout.
Control and Iron Banner Control
These 6v6 modes usually reward:
- zone ownership
- team shooting and heavy weapon spawn control
- understanding spawn flipping and your own team's center of mass
Controlling 2 out of the 3 zones is critical for winning the game. Different maps may require different pairs to be held though and this is learned over consistent play. For example, most control maps A & B, or C & B are the zones to hold. However, in a map like Burnout, players typically will want to hold A & C, and ignore B altogether as this will mess with spawns.
Also, be mindful of the center of mass of your team, or the opponent's team. Seeing that mass push pass the center of the map towards the other spawn will usually mean a spawn flip. Being aware of this can help you catch opponents off guard as they spawn differently, or maybe this will mean that you will need to reposition so you do not get caught among your enemies.
In Iron Banner control, holding all 3 control points is encouraged as this will allow you to lock down control points for a short duration and allow your team to snowball the other team.
Trials of Osiris
Trials as a 3v3 mode is very punishing on teams that lose the first player
Look for:
- fast first-pick potential
- unprepared flankers
- survivability by staying close to escape routes, and sticking with your team
Try not to be the first one dead. The team to lose the first member of their team usually will lose the round. Playing your life is extremely valuable in the Trials game mode so relying heavier on the meta of the season is important and try not to rely on pure gimmicks as opponents will quickly catch on and counter.
Competitive Playlist
This 3v3 mode is probably the most intense game mode in PvP
Both the zone mode and clash modes rely on:
- movement quality
- cleanup speed
- how consistently you can stack short fights together
Move with your team to team shot opponents, and to grab objectives. Do not feed your opponents kills. And if you have "bad" teammates, you may either have to bait them or stick with them to help keep them alive.
Rumble
The free-for-all mode Rumble rewards:
- Fast ttk
- Movement
- Understanding of opponent spawns
Rumble is a great mode to practice fast reaction times as you will engage in many different encounters very quickly. Understanding where opponents will spawn after being killed will allow you to string up kills and reach the 20 point limit. Weapons like SMG's can be extremely strong in this mode as it lends itself to quick TTK's and movement.
I personally feel that Rumble is the place to improve quickly. It rewards fast reaction time and can let you practice landing shots under pressure. Against good Rumble players, it is usually "land optimal TTK, or die"
