New Crucible Player Guide

You just got Destiny 2 and you want to play PvP. This guide has the steps to get you in PvP as quick as possible

Step 1 of 5

Step 1: Pick a class. Which to choose for PvP?

Pick a class

Titan, Hunter, or Warlock. So many choices. Here are some quick and dirty takes.

Pick a titan if:

  • You enjoy punching, and doing melee attacks not typical in FPS (shoulder charge, and flying knees)
  • Dropping protective barricades
  • SMG-centric play

Pick a hunter if:

  • You enjoy movement (variations of jumps: double jumps, triple jumps, strafe jumps), slides, dodges, air dives
  • Hand cannon gunplay (good air aim down sights) and knife throwing
  • Stealthy play (invisibility, radar manipulation)

Step 2 of 5

Step 2: Finish the opening mission path

Before PvP, unfortunately, you have to finishing the opening PvE story mission.

Step 3: Go get a Starter Kit

Go to the Tower and get a starter kit from an NPC character. I recommend picking the Solar hunter kit. It will feel probably the most familiar to those who come from other FPS:

Step 4: Play your first PvP game

Play your first PvP game. Select Crucible Ops from the main Portal and select the Control game mode.

Step 5: Set your next improvement target

Open Motivation and lock one practical next goal.

Good first goals:

  • Raise K/D in your last 30 days
  • Improve win rate in your main mode
  • Increase primary consistency before changing loadouts
